I am trying to create a video installation for an art project. The setup will be installed with a camera or webcam input and will need to output a video feed that will be an updating still image.
Starting with a clean background plate I want a photo taken at regular intervals (anywhere from 3 to 30 seconds depending on feasibility) which will be isolated from the background plate and then inserted on top. To begin, the clean background plate (image 0) will be displayed. When the next image is taken, if someone in the exhibition space is walking past the camera they will be roughly isolated from the background and placed on top of the background plate and this new image (image 1) will be the output displayed. When the next image is taken this is then again compared with the original empty background (image 0) and they will be isolated and placed on top of 'image 1' to create 'image 2'. And so on and so forth [See attached files image 0 - 4]
It is not necessary for the process to be very clean or accurate, see attached 'example 1'. If any steps are needed to simplify the processing that radically change the images that is fine, see attached 'example 2'.
The hardware I have available is a Macbook pro 2015 or a Rasberry pi. Applications I have that may be a part of the process are Photoshop CC 2015 on the Macbook Pro and I am also able to download MatLab through my university for free. If anything else is necessary it should be free to download.
If any further clarifying information is necessary, please feel free to ask.
