Executed a project for a G+14 residential building consisting of 4 apartments in each floor using STAAD Pro V8i. Analysis and design of the multi storey residential building were carried out with dead load, live loads, earthquake loads, wind loads and combination loads and the design for beams, columns and footings were obtained.
Another project using ANSYS CIVIL were executed which involved finite element analysis and design of Helicodial staircase. Modelling of the staircase was done using 3-D 8-node solid element and detailed results were obtained for deflection profiles, stress and reinforcement distribution.
Executed a project which focused on development of a cost/schedule management expert system specifically to
provide construction project managers who use Microsoft® Project 2007 with a useful “early warning” tool. The tool automatically identified those project elements which exhibit characteristics associated with cost overruns or schedule slippages.
The expert system tool was validated using civil infrastructure project from the literature: a highway bridge project. The results of applying the tool to the respective weekly cost/schedule project progress reports were included in this report.
Beyond these specific cases where certain aspects of the projects did not go as planned, a second focus of this project was to prepare taxonomy of construction project risk areas, compiled from various sources. In general, the taxonomy could be used by the project manager and staff (and subcontractors) at the start of a project to identify project-specific potential problems and assure that proactive strategies are applied.
