We need, on an imminent deadline, a fantastically obsessive proofreader who lives and breaths the Chicago Manual of Style and can quickly and meticulously apply it to about 150 pages of text. The copy isn't in bad shape, but we're short staffed this month and need one more pair of eyes. You'll have about 48 hours to do it, probably beginning on September 27th or 28th. The material is quite technical in places, ranging in subject matter from mathematics to biology, so a science background would be helpful, although not essential. The key is that you must be obsessively detail-oriented and the sort of fussbudget who is physically pained by the sight of a misplaced comma or an error in diction.
If you're interested, we'll ask you to take a two-page test. We'll be off to a good start if in your reply, you point out the error in the paragraph above. It's not a trick question; we just left in a exactly the kind of small, barely-noticable mistake that we'll be needing you to find in the text. If you noticed it and winced, you're the person we're looking for.
I'm not sure how we specified that we're looking for "3hrs a week," or how to change that, but we're definitely looking for more than this. This is probably three or four days of full-time work for a very experienced proofreader.
