We would like to build a Python desktop application that will streamline our sales data collection and reporting process. The goal of this project is to create an automated system that at a predetermined time everyday, will login to a website, download sales data into an Excel spreadsheet, reformat the information, and then upload it to a different website. The application should be able to repeat this process until all websites we work with have been successfully pulled and reported.
The application will be built using Python and will utilize web scraping techniques to extract data from the websites. The information will then be reformatted using Python libraries such as Pandas and openpyxl before logging into a different website and being uploaded to the designated website.
The key features of this application will include a user-friendly interface that will allow new users to enter their login credentials for each website, select the date range of data to be downloaded and uploaded for the first instance, track and download only new data, after the first download and choose the formatting options for the Excel spreadsheet.
The application will be designed to run on Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems, and will be optimized for performance to ensure that large amounts of data can be processed quickly and efficiently. The application will need to provide reports summarizing the days data transfers and any errors that occurred. Whenever an error occurs, the application should skip that website with the issue and move on to the next one.
Overall, this project will streamline our sales data collection process, reduce the risk of errors, and save valuable time for our team.
