Amazingly enough, I have actually done this very thing before. :) I'm pretty sure I could do this for you, but I do have some questions: o What microcontroller does the product use right now? Is it an ESP8266 or ESP32? o Do you already know the target IP address that the device is trying to reach for the OTA file? o Do you have control of the router that controls the network to which the device is connected? o Do you know the code format that the OTA file needs to be in? It sounds like a matter of setting up the network (router) to spoof a new destination when the device requests the OTA, right? I live and work in the US (in the San Francisco Bay Area), so my price is going to be higher than others from other countries, but I can definitely get this done for you. Most of the projects I develop for clients or my own product development company include OTA firmware updating. It is really cool. but you're right, if the server goes down, or if the device is hard-coded to an IP address or domain name and that changes, then it is a problem. I can also help you set up the spoofed OTA server where the OTA file lives. This can be anything, though, even a $3 a month hosting account like HostGator, or you can set up XAMMP or a cheap Raspberry Pi web server or a NAS like the Synology Diskstation (that's what I use for OTA hosting). The new temporary server can use iptable rule to redirect all request to that non existing IP to a process within it. The application will reply on behalf of that virtual IP. This is example of Man in middle for a good purpose. Have done quite a few project on this principle.( successful projects) FOr firmware upgrade we need to follow exact procedure and protocol which exist on iot devices. This is my proposal.
