Write a Python script to re-name objects in a FreeCAD drawing

When we receive a drawing from our tool designer, the parts have meaningless names such like ABC, ABC01,ABC02 etc. This makes navigating a bit difficult. We can easily re-name the parts but that then means that next time we receive an updated drawing then we would have to rename all the parts again. FreeCAD has a nice Python API that allows complete control over drawing and manipulation of 3D images. I would love to write the script myself but my Python is a bit poor and I should be viewing the Drawing and not playing with Python scripts. The new names can be given in the form of a list. such as newname1,newname2 etc. Notice there are sub-parts so it is not quite as simple as search and replace through the .stp file. There may of course be other solutions such as converting the STP file first then search and replace using sed/grep etc.. These would be acceptable
