We are launching a high-end, limited-edition (50 sets) collaboration between a fine artist and a luxury Mezcal company. We need an experienced Industrial Designer or Mechanical Engineer to design a single, modular, food-safe glass bottle that functions as part of a larger interlocking sculpture. The final assembly stands 18 inches tall and resembles a "blue barrel cactus." This sculpture is composed of five (5) completely identical wedge-shaped bottles (like segments of an orange) that radially array to form the complete 3D cactus. Because you only need to design one single bottle that repeats five times, your focus will be entirely on perfect geometric tolerances, liquid volume calculations, and manufacturing feasibility for heavy blown glass.(Note: The finished bottles will eventually sit in a custom ceramic base designed separately, so your focus is purely on the glass engineering). Key Technical Requirements: Software: Must be designed using parametric CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Rhino 3D). No Blender, Maya, or polygon mesh files will be accepted. Interlocking Geometry: The left and right faces of the wedge bottle must feature flush tolerances or subtle interlocking channels so that 5 identical copies sit tightly together in a circle without slipping or wobbling. Volumetric Accuracy: The internal cavity of the single wedge segment must hold exactly 3.75 Liters of liquid. This must include a standard 5% headspace allowance for liquid expansion and standard cork depth insertion. Neck & Closure Integration: The neck of each identical segment must terminate at the top point of the wedge. The neck must be engineered to a standard T-Top Cork / Bartop finish (e.g., 19.5mm or 21.5mm inner diameter). When all 5 bottles are assembled, the 5 individual corks must cluster closely together at the peak to visually form the "crown of flowers" of the barrel [login to view URL] Constraints: The design is for a production run of hand-blown glass using metal molds in Guadalajara, Mexico. Because of the 3.75L volume, the designer must engineer thick, structurally reinforced glass walls (minimum 8mm–10mm) and respect glass-blowing physics (realistic radiuses, proper draft angles for mold release). Deliverables Required: Source CAD Files: Native files (SolidWorks/Rhino) along with universal .STEP or .IGES files for CNC [login to view URL] Blueprints: 2D technical drawings (PDF) with exact dimensions, wall thicknesses, and neck/finish specifications for standard closures. Assembly Render: A basic 3D exploded view rendering showing how the 5 identical pieces slide together to form the 18" cactus. To Apply, Please Provide:Examples of physical, manufactured products or glass/packaging designs you have engineered in [login to view URL] CAD software you will use for this [login to view URL] estimated timeline to deliver the first volume-tested prototype file.

Hello! I understand that you are looking for an experienced Industrial Designer to create a modular, food-safe glass bottle for a unique mezcal sculpture resembling a blue barrel cactus. The bottle must feature precision design elements for interlocking geometry and volumetric accuracy. My expertise in Industrial Design and Product Design aligns perfectly with your needs. I have a solid background in CAD software including SolidWorks and Rhino 3D, allowing me to focus on the technical requirements like tolerances, volume calculations, and practical manufacturing processes. To tackle this project efficiently, I will begin with detailed conceptual sketches to determine the best approach for geometric tolerances. Then, I'll create CAD models to ensure the internal cavity delivers precise 3.75L volume with the necessary headspace. My plan includes frequent communication with you to ensure the design meets all specifications and expectations, culminating in high-quality production blueprints. Please do check out my profile for project reviews and portfolio at: https://www.freelancer.com/u/umaranimators "I would love to discuss your project in more detail and share ideas to make it a success. Let me know a convenient time to connect!" Best Regards, Muhammad Umar

Drawing from my extensive experience in product design and 3D modelling, I am confident in my ability to deliver an extraordinary final product for your limited-edition Mezcal bottle sculpture. My proficiency in parametric CAD software such as SolidWorks or Rhino 3D aligns perfectly with your project requirements, allowing me to focus entirely on creating accurate geometric tolerances and engineered neck and closure integration that will be essential to the functionality of the sculpture. Additionally, I understand the unique manufacturing constraints associated with blown-glass production and will apply this knowledge to engineer thick, structurally reinforced glass walls with realistic radiuses and proper draft angles for a successful mold release. Having successfully executed similar projects in the past, I understand that intricate details can make or break a fine art endeavor- such as ensuring exact liquid volume calculations, achieving precise finish specifications for standard closures, and guaranteeing fluid assembly of all segments of the sculpture. In line with this, I pledge unfaltering commitment to maintaining food safety throughout the design process by respecting necessary tolerances for materials used.
