Assessing the Feasibility of Entrepreneurial Design

You have been appointed “Feasibility Advisor” for an organisation called
‘Community Investment Solutions’ and your task is to assess the feasibility of
the organisation’s business plan.
The organisation is a solo proprietorship ran by Mr Rufus Okpu, an
entrepreneur. The company’s proposed mission is to invest in high growth
community-based startups, often assuming significant financial risk in the

in order to reduce the level of risk they are incurring when investing in such
start-ups. You have been asked to assess the usefulness of this approach and
provide your findings to Mr Okpu.
With reference to a business or organisation of your choice, write a report
where you outline the main argument for and against the use of feasibility
studies to determine potential business success. Provide clear
recommendations as to the use and content of such studies, using relevant
examples to illustrate your assertions. Clear justification with possible case
examples should be provided in support of your recommendations.
The report must include the following:
A critical discussion of the relevant academic sources on the issue
providing guidance on the importance of feasibility studies.
A clear example of such a feasibility study as it relates to assessing
the viability of a relevant business. The feasibility study can be for any
business of your choice. The aim of the feasibility study is to outline
the use of such studies for the minimisation of the risk incurred during
early stage investment.
The report should demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the
literature on the key issues of sources of finance, including reference
to the international context. Students are also expected to reflect, as
appropriate, on the challenges and demands for expanding the
organisation in the future.

In addition, your assignment should demonstrate the following qualities:
A critical appreciation of relevant literature and its use to support argument,
substantiate calculations and other aspects of the assignment.
Taking ownership of the content, being prepared to debate and argue a
personal position, and providing evidence of evaluative skills. A submission
made up of extracts from published sources which is descriptive or simply
just theoretical regurgitation is not acceptable. Your submission must have
interpretation and consideration of the challenges and issues of taking theory
Logical flow of ideas and treatment; appropriate selection of real world factors
related to the companies under scrutiny.
Evidence of additional personal research, and the ability to analyse material
from a variety of appropriate relevant perspectives.
Presentation, structure, appropriateness of methodology, breaking into
section headings/subheadings, tidiness.
Marks will be awarded for proper referencing and originality of work. Also
note that plagiarism is a serious offence and your submission will be
