I've got a spreadsheet in Google docs.
each row contains a number of items including an email address.
Example of a row:
text 1, text 2, text 3, email address
The field with the email address is in the spreadsheet, but it MUST NOT be visible to the visitor.
I need you to create a survey I can send to the email addresses which are contained in the rows, and when they get to the survey, they can do the following:
each visitor can assign a UNIQUE value between 1 and 7 to at most 7 rows in the spreadsheet. (there are more than 7 rows. Basically I want them to vote for their top 7 choices)
They can NOT assign a value to the entry with their own email address.
Also, they can only vote once (this last one is not mission critical, as we can filter it out manually, but if it's easily done in the spreadsheet, I'd really like to have that).
So, as a workflow:
your work needs to give me unique URLs I can send each visitor to (which obviously needs to somehow contain their email address, so we know which person is voting)
At the beginning of each row, they'll then have drop-down boxes (or whatever mechanism is best suited to this)
drop-down w. UNIQUE value 1-7, text 1, text 2, text 3, [INVISIBLE email address]
they select their 7 choices and assign unique values, then hit "submit".
Once they've submitted their choice once, they can NOT vote again.
(preferred, but not essential)
the user MUST NOT be able to modify any of the text in the spreadsheet, the only person who can do that (and who can view all the answers) is me.
I have no idea how/where you store the votes (I guess in a separate spread-sheet?), so I'll go with your advice.
