Usher's Legacy is a low budget independent film project. Our goal is to set up a site, preferably using a CMS system such as Joomla or Drupal (we're flexible here) that will provide the trailer and basic information on the first page, information about the movie as it evolves (e.g., descriptions of parts, casting calls, cast selection, production blog, pictures, etc.) Ideally, it would provide RSS feeds for those who want to follow the production, be SEO friendly, and integrated into social networking sites to aid in promoting the movie. Site will be hosted on IIS7. We are willing to use an existing template and customize it as needed.
Note: the IIS7 system works fine with Joomla and we're assuming Drupal can also be configured on it successfully. The default installation for Joomla is currently there (see http://www.usherslegacy.com.)
Please note: I'm not asking anyone to install or configure Joomla (or Drupal or anything else) on this server, I've done it several times already, have set up URL rewriting, etc. This specific site has the basic install at the moment (it takes a bit more work to get URL rewriting working, and I haven't configured fastcgi on this site yet.) While I have not configured Drupal in a couple of years, I've done it successfully before as well.
The server is running IIS, mysql, and PHP. It's Windows underneath and I have admin access. The box is in a commercial data center. The project is really the creative parts - the template, CSS, graphics, layout plus some tech (SEO, RSS, integration with social network promotion tools, etc.)
I will consider other proposals (e.g., wordpress, drupal, ASP, PHP, and so forth) as well, but they need to make sense in the context of the key goal of the site - which is to assist us in promoting this movie project.
Regardless, the basic site will need to be something we can adapt as the movie production process moves along.
I'm a member of a couple of Joomla template sites (e.g., RocketThemes) and can obtain a template from them if it speeds development. I have no agenda here though - I just want a good looking, basic site. For example, see http://www.houseofnumbers.com (a recent indie documentary. The site is basic, has evolved throughout the lifetime of the movie, including its showing at film festivals, and has only recently incorporated ecommerce. But it does the job quite well.)
Creative: Usher's Legacy is a suspense/horror movie, an adaptation of "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe. See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053925/ for background or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRImdHb3woo for a clip from the 1960 movie version. Dark, mysterious and scary should be the inspiration. As we identify actors, location, etc. we will want to update the site to incorporate those features (but I don't expect that as part of basic site design - just the ability to make those changes at a future date.)
Hope that helps clarify things further.
Note that at the present time we do not have a trailer - we're casting at the end of this month, shooting in August. We expect to have stills and a trailer at that point. For the moment, a position for the trailer would be fine.
