I'm a big fan of CS-cart. and would prefer to build this site using CS-cart. I was talked out of it with this project and spent the last 6 months building a site that is 90% complete but doesn't work. It is missing a ton of basic components such as [url removed, login to view] integration, gift certificate functions, reporting, inventory based on attributes like color/size, etc. These are common with most e-commerce platforms but are missing in my custom solution.
The current demo site can be seen at [url removed, login to view]
At this point, I'd prefer to just start over and use CS-cart to begin with and heavily modify the product presentation to match our business concept.
Our business concept is pretty simple. We want to offer items for sale for a short period of time. Customers reserve the item at a given price. Then if more units are sold, the price drops. They are only charged the final price upon sale completion. It is critical to include with the product info (category page and product detail page)
- Countdown timer of the sale duration
- Levers showing the dropping price and rising units sold.
In admin, the user can set up products and also establish the number of pricing tiers, retail price, max price, min. price, start date and duration of the sale. These admin features are unique to other shopping carts and are the most important aspect of this entire site.
The dynamic pricing is automatically established based on the min/max price, inventory available and the number of tiers set. Please make sure you understand this dynamic pricing model before bidding. It is very unique.
I need the site built out to look similar to the hakeo site. I can provide full access and source code to hakeo if that helps. This project will live on a different domain.
Finally, another important aspect of this site is the social sharing elements. I would like to incorporate the ability to "comment" on each product (with admin moderation), share via facebook, twitter, Google+, add this(optional) and email. See hakeo sample product.
Dynamic pricing and social sharing are what makes this site different than other deal sites.
Again, as a reminder, the prices continually drop during a sale. The customer just reserves the product but only pays the low final price. So if they buy the product at $99 and the final price is $59 at the end of the sale, their credit card should only get charged $59.
