We are looking for an experienced electronics / PCB design engineer to design a self-contained IR LED tracking marker for a computer-vision system, with basic firmware to blink each LED its individual code. The project involves designing a long, thin custom PCB populated with up to ~50 independently controlled 850 nm IR LEDs, mounted in multiple orientations (up, down, and side-facing). Each LED must emit its own unique repeating blink pattern, with all LEDs synchronised at power-up. The board must operate from a single 5 V supply, with all control electronics integrated on the PCB (no external controller during operation). Scope includes schematic design, PCB layout (dense routing), component selection, BOM creation, and preparation of manufacturing files suitable for PCBway assembly. Hi there! as you can see in my portfolio I have many completed consumer electronics developments. I even have some very dense LED PCBs used for road signaling. I understand what you need; I’ve seen similar devices used for VR tracking. You need a thin and long PCB with multiple LEDs, I imagine on both sides, so that a camera can locate the object. I don’t think an LED driver is necessary, since each LED can be driven directly from MCU GPIOs or from an external IC to handle that number of LEDs. They may have a significant current consumption at 5V, but nothing that can’t be designed and tested. I’d love for us to talk via chat and better define the PCB shape you have in mind. Best regards!

What kind of synchronization do these IR LEDs need? if they need to match precise timing then I would suggest you to go with FPGA aproach otherwise an MCU can do the job pretty well.
