Who we are:
We are a small football retail store with 3 physical locations and 1 eCommerce site.
What we are doing:
We are changing our POS and Inventory management software to Vend POS ([url removed, login to view]) which is a cloud and html5 based software that can be run in any regular internet browser.
2 of our location run with low internet speeds (around 3mbps), and due to our internet provider, the internet speed cannot be upgraded. The problem with this software (Vend POS) is that when internet speed is slow, some functions do not work properly. More specifically, when doing physical inventory counts (scanning products UPC’s to add the counts to our inventory stock); the software takes too long to upload the scans. Each scan upload takes around 3 seconds, as opposed to .4 seconds in a fast internet speed. The difference seems minimal, but when taking into consideration the huge level of scanning that takes place, the time difference is tremendously bigger. In essence, it takes us 3 times longer to scan a warehouse which changes 12 hours of labor into 36 hours of labor.
We want a software that can run in Windows 7 and/or Windows 8 that would change the speed between accepting scans and uploading them into our web based software
The new software should be able to:
o Accepts scans from our barcode scanner at the fastest possible rate (which is around .4 seconds per scan)
o and makes a sort of waitlist of the scanned barcodes
o at the same time the software will be inserting (copying and pasting) the barcode readings from the waitlist into the search bar of Vend POS software (which is an HTML5 software running on a chrome browser) BUT inserting at a different speed (around 3 seconds of waiting time in between inserting (pasting) the UPC into the search bar).
• The created software should let us choose and change the inserting wait time as we see fit
• Also, let us have the option to pause the software from inserting the barcodes into the search bar of Vend POS, but still keep accepting barcode scans and saving them in a waitlist. This is useful because it will let us scan our inventory even if there is no internet. Later, we can go to a place with internet and run the software to just upload the scans.
o We would also like the software to give us a summary of the number of scanned barcodes
o In addition, we would like to be able to “export” the waitlist of counted barcodes to a .CSV file at the end of the count.
o The software should be able to start clean new counts. In other words, reset the waitlist to 0 and start over again.
This software will let us scan our inventory at the fastest possible rate, yet upload the scans at a rate that our POS software can accept the barcode uploads. The inventory scan will obviously be finished before the software uploads the scans into our Vend POS, but we can just leave the software running.
