I'm looking for a skilled Java programmer who could debug and fix a java-based program for me. The program uses Selenium/Webdriver and the Marvin image processing package to automate some repetitive tasks in a flash-based online browser game called "Bit Heroes". The game can be found here: [url removed, login to view]
and the program/bot here:
[url removed, login to view]
The bot used to be able to perform the following ingame actions:
- start the game, handle all kinds of pop-ups, check status (how many tokens/badges/energy/shards etc.)
- perform/start ingame actions (gladly, most of the farming is done automatically by the game once you start e.g. a raid or a dungeon)
- check the outcome
- click ingame ad offers and check if those are completed successfully
- screenshot all kinds of ingame messages/notifications
Sadly, the developer abandoned the project some time ago, leaving us with a poorly documented, yet working release version - until the next game update broke it. The current status is (on my machine) that it creates an instance of google chrome and starts the game, but doesn't interact with it. It is very likely that the reason for the problem is either the fact that the game is flash-based or that the image recognition process is broken.
Your task would be to find and fix the problem so that the bot is working again, doing what it used to do. We can discuss in detail which features have to be working for full payment. Follow-up tasks may include new features or ports to different browsers, a headless version which could run 24/7 on a server etc.
Some words about me: I'm a scientist who likes to play browsergames in his spare time, yet often lacks the time to do the grinding. My background includes some Java basics as well as other programming languages. There's a good chance that, if i come across skilled programmers, there will be other, more serious programming projects funded by my institute's budget.
Since this is a private project, the budget is very limited, but there's also no firm deadline. Good (english or german) communication skills are absolutely required!
