In short, I need a python CLI program to find any time-related table on any website. Detail: this is a sub-module of our client's system which is developing by us. 1. A python program based on Scrapy framework, using mongodb as database backend, running on Ubuntu or CentOS 2. For any static html website(not AJAX website), be able to walk through every page on this website then find out all html tables 3. Pick out tables which have numeric values in the table body, discard others 4. Find out the tables that we can make sure its values are regularly updated by a certain time interval 5. save all changes of those tables into database 6. easy to select(find) all historical values of any cell in tables 7. well-commented and well structure codes if you suppose you can do it, tell me below whe you bid: 1. which part you think is the most difficult part of this project and how would you overcome it. 2. do you have similar project experience? 1. which part you think is the most difficult part of this project and how would you overcome it. coming up with a naming scheme to associate the table cells with the data... I think I would do something like a reference back to a table of web pages to identify the page, a table number for which table on the page, and a row and column id for the specific cell, but I would want to take a look at some example pages that are going to be scraped to make sure I understand ... it might be better to identify the table by some title text or something if the table includes that information (make it easier to search later). 2. do you have similar project experience? Show me some your python codes. I don't have any experience with scraping in Python, but the scrapy interface seems fairly simple. I have scraped pages with Perl before and understand the concepts, and I understand walking HTML text (finding the tables/cells). 3. if you finish this well, we'll have some similar development job in the further, how long time you will be available from now on? I'm fairly available... my day job does not encroach on my evenings at all. I could commit up to ten hours a week with no problem. Any more than that and we should probably talk about a more permanent relationship.
