1. Assume that you are given the task of testing for association between genotypes at a given locus (with two possible alleles a and A) and disease phenotype. The data consist of the following 100 family trios (M,F,O): 60 families of the type (aa,aA,aa) and 40 families of the type (aa,AA,aA).

a)Define the null and alternative hypotheses.

b)Code all genotypes by using the number of A alleles in the genotypes.

c)Calculate the conditional expectation and conditional variance of the number of A alleles in the offspring genotypes for all family trios.

d)Combine the information from all families into the classic FBAT statistic

e)Calculate the p-value of the test.

f)Summarize your findings in a paragraph.
