In sloped roof geometries without horizontal ceiling joists to act as rafter ties, the central ridge carries a significant gravity load and requires direct vertical support, making this wall highly likely to be load-bearing. Without original blueprints, we can easily reverse-engineer the framing structure. We will guide you on exactly which rafter spans, roof pitches, and subfloor joist layouts to measure on-site. Once we calculate the tributary roof and environmental loads, we will design a replacement structural beam—such as an LVL or steel wide-flange—to clear-span that opening. We will also specify the required column sizes and foundation blocking needed to transfer the new concentrated point loads safely into the earth.
