Our backyard is 52' N-S by 77' E-W. From the house N to S, the backyard is flat for 31' then slopes up 7.3' for 21', please see diagram for details. Please reference photos. Please reference last pic for our general idea (however we will use matching block to existing and not have a Jacuzzi). We are thinking this will need 2 retaining walls similar to the concept pic. 1 to hold back the wall that utilizes the cement patio above the pool, and a lower retaining wall to accommodate the waterfall features into the pool and some landscaping. This wall would be with a stone face. We would like to put in a gunite 20' x 40' rectangular pool utilizing the flat portion of the yard and create a cement deck utilizing the sloped hill above the pool. We would like the concrete deck approximately 12' wide but want economics to prevail to a minimum of 8'. We would like a stairway up to the deck on the east side that allows for a center railing. We would like to do this at the most affordable cost. Our current fence is block and we would be satisfied using the same material. We need the engineering specs on the best economic placement with specs to give to subcontractors. Also need to confirm any reinforcement of pool structure based on placement of pool in proximity to existing slope. (One pool company told us the pool would require extra rebar if we went into the hill. Since we are not placing the pool into the hill, we are not expecting to need extra reinforcement, however if pool placement in proximity to hill requires extra reinforcement, we would need the best economic placement of the pool away from the slope to remove the requirement of extra reinforcement). Due to very limited pool contractors in my town, we will be subcontracting out the pool work ourselves, and not using a pool contractor.
