I run a bunch of sites, which I host on my own dedicated server. Unfortunately, I don't know nearly as much as I should about administrating a server, but I stumble my way through.
My problem is that the company that my dedicated server is hosted by (GoDaddy) automatically backs up the entire contents of the server every day. Which is awesome. The only problem is that they DON'T backup the databases.
This is the message I have from GoDaddy:
"MySQL and/or MS SQL Server Databases running on your server will not backup successfully as they are typically in use during any amount of time that we backup your server. Please configure your server to dump the contents of the database to an unused directory meant just for this so that the backup can successfully retrieve your database content."
So what I need is for someone to walk me through (I can't give server access to anyone) the process of setting up the server to dump the contents of all databases on the server into a directory so it gets retrieved whenever the backup occurs.
We can use SKYPE chat and you can walk me through it. I am fairly bright and hopefully it will be a fairly quick procedure.
I will pay $20 via PayPal once this is completed.
