I would treat preservation of the existing edge as the first requirement, rather than rewriting or “optimizing” the strategy before understanding its current state logic. My first step would be to establish a reproducible baseline in TradeStation, then map the EasyLanguage architecture, entry/exit logic, persistent state, transitions, position handling and any dependencies between bars/trades. For the excessive losing sequences, I’d instrument the strategy and analyze when those clusters occur: market regime, volatility, direction, setup state, time/session, transition path and preceding trades. Any modification would then be isolated and tested against the original baseline. I would avoid curve-fitting fixes that simply improve the historical equity curve. Changes would be validated with out-of-sample/walk-forward testing and compared for drawdown, consecutive losses, expectancy, profit factor and trade distribution.
