The risk in handwritten Kannada is not typing speed. It is a transcriber who reads through an ambiguity instead of stopping at it. Handwriting blurs distinctions the script depends on: ottu conjuncts stacking below the line, vowel length marks, anusvara against a similar stroke. Someone working quickly resolves those by guessing what the sentence probably says, and produces a document that reads fluently and is quietly wrong in a dozen places. That is much worse than a gap, because nobody knows to check it. So the transcriptionist on my team works with a queries log. Anything genuinely unclear is marked in place and listed for you to resolve, rather than smoothed over. You will get a handful of queries per batch. That is the sign it is being done properly. On the technical side: Unicode throughout, normalised so the same character sequence is encoded consistently and search works, delivered in Word or Google Docs and checked for the classic failure where conjuncts render correctly in one application and collapse in another. Spacing, punctuation and paragraph breaks matched to the page rather than tidied to taste. I am happy to do the sample you suggested before anything is agreed — send a page, or an excerpt of your choosing, and you can judge script fidelity against the original yourself. Tell me roughly how many pages there are, and whether the notes are one hand or several. Several hands is not a problem, but it changes the pace and I would rather say so up front.
