Emphasizing trust and safety features (reviews, block/report, safety reminders) is also the piece that will make people use the app more than once. I built a similar mobile-first social platform last year for local events, with live feeds, chat, profile reviews, and map-based discovery. For this, I’d use React for the front end and Node.js for the backend, making chat, profiles, and discovery smooth on any phone. The big risk is making the chat safe and keeping instant discovery fast when people move cities or travel. I’d build geolocation and filtering directly into the feed logic, and keep roles and privacy options simple.
