Scope:
We need an inventory control program that will serve several site connected by vb.net program. The platform will be vb.net using MSSQL 2005. We will provide the connection string to connect so that have to be integrated into our system.
This is a two-phase (tiered) project. The first project is to draft up the windows, plan the database, and show us what you have in mind to do this.
The second tier will be the hard coding. You will be code, test, and finalize the project. We realize that this is a difficult task, so that’s why it is separate.
The Inventory will contain several required field such as name, quantity, serial numbers and so on. There will be two type of inventory style:
1. General inventory: contains name, number, quantity and other fields.
2. Unique inventory: contains name, number, serial number, and other fields.
(Both have to be integrated so it is acted as one but open to suggestion)
We would require the following:
1. Ability to add / edit inventory
2. Ability to view / report inventory by location, types, low quantity check.
3. Ability to add / edit / track amount commited and non-commited. (Such as a database that sold moved from location 1 to location 2, by 500 units and so on. Being location 2 is a sold item)
4. Ability to add / edit location type and names to track movement of product. We will say location 3 is warehouse A, location 4 is shipping and location 5 is warehouse B. So, there will be three database:
- (1) 500 units was deducted from Location 3 (warehouse A)
- (2) 500 units was moved using location 4 (shipping)
- (3) 500 units was added to location 5 (warehouse B)
We have a fields of inventory product. However, coder need to generate many more fields and database in our SQL server to satisfied what we required.
What we need to accomplished is the ability to track and know how much we have in our inventory at one time (including how much is in the shipping process). If you have experiences in making these programs, it should be easy for you. We also open to suggestion in making these works.
This post if for you to draft out a planned project, how many database do you need, and how to proceed. It should include fields, tables, and mock up all windows application (without coding).
Once accepted, you will have a chance to bid again on the project. We will decide to extend the project to you or others coder if we don’t like it.
