Here is the style sheet I would work to, so you can check it before hiring anyone: Two lines maximum, 32 characters per line, minimum 1.2 seconds on screen, reading speed capped at 21 characters per second, line breaks placed at clause boundaries and never mid-phrase. Reading speed is the rule most caption files fail. Text can be word-perfect and still flash past faster than anyone can read it, and that fails an accessibility check just as hard as a typo. The specific risk in devotional content is vocabulary. Terms like bhajan, aarti and prasad, and the names themselves, get mangled by every automated pass and by most typists. So before I time anything I build a short glossary from the video, send it to you to confirm, and lock the spellings. One misspelt name and the audience you made this for stops trusting the rest of the file. Straight answer on method, since your brief asks: I use a machine pass for rough timings, then review and retype every line against the audio by hand. Nobody produces several hundred accurate captions purely by ear, and anyone who says otherwise is either very slow or not being straight with you. What you get is fully reviewed, and I will tell you plainly which lines I was unsure of. Deliverables: SRT and VTT, the confirmed glossary, and the style sheet as a short note.
