I have a private project which involves object recognition from the given source.
The task is mainly to detect an object from the image source (web camera with live stream), analyze the image, and give an approximate in percent if the object of the given shape is found on the image.
More precisely, the project is about to detect and recognize different bottles of different shapes from the video stream.
Let's say the major objective is to detect the upper part of any bottle on the video stream and run a template-matching procedure that will give a compression results in numbers. Long story short - I need to create a bottle-detection module that will detect any bottle (upper part only) on the video stream and will calculate matching to the given templates.
Let's say the I need to find the upper part of the plastic bottle (se images attached).
So I need to:
1) recognize bottle shapes from the video stream
2) match those shapes to some sort of a templates (not created yet) and give an estimate number in percents of relativity to the initial templates
Task number 1) is mostly important.
The task requires general knowledge of the image processing and computer vision tools such as OpenCV project (C++).
Looking forward for any suggestions and offers. As this is my private project the budget is very tight but there will be a lot of upcoming development and improvements after the initial tasks will be solved.

I have experience in object recognition (with opencv) as part of my PhD. I would be able to implement state of the art methods from journal papers for this problem, if need be.
