INTVAS is an online flight simulation and virtual air traffic control organisation on the interneet. Our website is at http://www.intvas.net.
Pilots, on their personal computers, fly using Microsoft Flight Simulator. A pilot client application, called FSInn and developed by [url removed, login to view], allows connection to our organisation's FSD server. FSInn extracts pilot information, such as altitude, speed and the type of aircraft being flown and sends this data to the FSD server. FSD then promulgates this information to all users, within range, and thus a multiplayer environment is created whereby pilots can see other pilots who are within their range.
An Air Traffic Control client, ProController, was also developed to enable realistic provision of such services. ProController is, however, very dated and is in much need of replacement. The ProController development team have disbanded a long time ago and so the task of providing a new client lies with our network.
It is worth noting that we are not the only network of our kind. There are two major networks called VATSIM and IVAO and these networks have already developed their own software but this software is designed for, and only works on, their own networks.
INTVAS wishes to have developed a new version of ProController. We wish it to be bespoke to our needs but retain the basic overall functionality of ProController. As VATSIM and IVAO have developed their own clients we can use their software as a starting point for brainstorming our new functionality.
The basic functionality of the software will be:
* Provision of a radar screen to show movement of aircraft
* Radar screen takes data from sector files showing layout of the area being controlled
* Connection to and communication with FSD servers
* Messaging system to pilots and other controllers
Our team is fully conversant with the FSD protocol and documentation is fully available. The only part of the software that we are unsure about is the radar screen and movement of aircraft objects around the screen. I personally am fairly up-to-speed with VB 2005 though I am still learning the more advanced techniques.
We would like someone to begin development on this project, with emphasis on the radar screen, and program in such a way as to enable future expansion by us later on.
If any information here is vague or you need clarrification please don't hesitate to ask. I attach a picture of the front screen of ProController and another from Virtual Radar Client (one of the VATSIM clients) just to show you the kind of thing we're looking for.
