I have a client that has a website that was written in an old environment. It needs to be upgraded to Visual [url removed, login to view] 2008, .NET Framework 2, VB.NET with SQL 2005. If you know what this means, please bid on this project.
Here are some additional details:
I have the website running on a test server. If I try to open the project in Visual [url removed, login to view] as a website project, I get a lot of compilation errors so we can't debug it to fix it. There are maybe 60 files that needs to have the errors fixed so that it will run right.
The person working on this project will need to be familiar with ASP.NET and VB.NET three tier web design for .NET Framework 2.0. This project was inherited from a previous developer that is no longer accessible. Furthermore, it was based on a open source CRM solution that no longer exists. However, we do have a lot of the source files and the changes that are desired are minimal. There are a few fields that needs to be added to the web page such that data can be edited on the website. There are also 1-2 reports that need to be made as well.
What I will need the person to do is to remove all the elements from the project that are no longer needed to reduce the size of the project. From there we will need to repair the errors such that the project will compile. Then we need to update it so that the correct fields are displayed in the forms. In all, I would expect this to be accomplished in about 30-40 hours maximum.
Once the initial part of this project is complete, then I can bid on the project with the client to create a new site based on this database and to eliminate this old system. But I can't do that until I can repair the existing site. So this can turn into more work in the future if this first part is done.
Example compilation errors here:
Type of member 'Billing' is not CLS-compliant
'txtName' is already declared as 'Protected WithEvents txtName as PBTextbox' in this class
Name 'Global' is not declared.
See attached file for picture of error list for more details.
