I have worksheets that need to determine compounded inflation over the useful life of the asset. They are named 'Comp300', 'Comp301' and so on. The worksheets are always in the same format. Cell H7 is always the same field all the worksheets and so on. I have named the cell H7, 'AE', for ease of use. AE stands for average estimate which is the starting number BEFORE the compounded inflation is added. I have separate worksheets that contain only the inflation rates. For example, in the Worksheet 'General Building Inflation Rates', cell A1 contains the inflation rate for 2001. Cell A24 contains the inflation rate of 2024. Using Worksheet 'Comp300' as an example, it has a cell named ITU (Inflation Table Used). The value of ITU is 'General Building Inflation Rates'.
Worksheet 'Comp300' has a cell named AE (Average Estimate) which contains $5533. It also has the 2-digit year cell called YEAR which has a value of 23. Finally, worksheet 'Comp300' has a cell named RUL (Remaining Useful Life in Years) which contains 5.
Worksheet 'General Building Inflation Rates' contains in cell A24 = 400 (4.00%), cell A25 = 350 (3.50%), cell A26 = 300 (3.00%), cell A27 = 250 (2.50%) and cell A28 =200 (2.00%).
I want to call a macro or VB subroutine that accesses the specific Component worksheet and the ITU worksheet, uses the data contained in the cells I mentioned and returns the compounded inflation amount (AECIA) for the cell AE. It would have to set the compounded inflation amount equal to AE (AECIA=AE) at the beginning of every subroutine call so I would always start the subroutine fresh.
So, for example in worksheet 'Comp300': I want AECIA to first be set to AE ($5533). I want the starting year to be YEAR +1 or 24. I want to take the value from cell A24 of worksheet "General Inflation Building Rates" and multiply it by AECIA and add the result to AECIA. It will loop 5 times (value of RUL), applying A24, A25, A26, A27, A28 to AECIA. When the loop completes the RUL, it will return the value of AECIA. Worksheet "Comp301' has different values that will be executed through the subroutine and so on. That's it!
