“Partial” Design of Home Page HTML

I have a conceptual idea of how I want my home page design but am posting this job because I require assistance in the creative aspect. My website is www.SkedaddleScooters.com. It is an OsCommerce website utilizing PHP and HTML. The portion of the home page that I am looking for help with is in HTML. Specifically, I am looking for help updating the content on the home page only; the area below the banner, right of the left margin and above the footer. There is a place in my admin panel where I will patch in the HTML code on my own for that area. You can use any images on my site and I will send you links to other sites where you can get more if needed.

Conceptually speaking, I am looking for a thumbnail type image that will represent the category of scooter I have listed in the left hand margin. Currently I have 11. You could leave out the last category given there is only one item there. This design will need to be scalable because I will be adding more categories soon. I could easily create a table on my own with so many rows and columns and patch in some images. However, I am looking for something professional and ideas from someone who is good with design. To make it look right I suspect that I would need to add additional content of some type other than that described. Exactly what that might be is where I require assistance.

There is a competitor website that has a similar concept: [url removed, login to view] except their nav bar is at the top. Please note I do want to rubber stamp their design. I would like something with better esthetic value and also blends in with the rest of my site. Note that I have two other projects that will be working at the same time as this one:

What I am looking for in a programmer:

-someone who will keep in good communication

-programmer who is creative and has excellent design skills

-can show me other sites that he/she has worked on

-designer who has respectable GAF feedback

-can offer ideas on how to improve my site outside of the given project
