Here are the essential elements: 1. An email client with the following capabilities; to import mail from a variety of different clients into one place (ie, if a G-mail account, a corporate account, a Yahoo account and a Facebook account, can all be imported into one interface) allowing the messages to be tagged from the address from which they were sent, and to reply to the emails from whichever email address they choose. Ideally it would be a drop down menu letting the user select which email address they would like to have it sent from. Also, want the ability to to have users sign up for their own address at out site, i.e. marleycastilloatoursitedotcom. Also linked to the paid-version of the site, we would like to incorporate some email extras such as recallable and trackable mail. We like some of the services that [url removed, login to view] offers but find their product clunky and hard to use. 2. Basic social networking functions including online/texting chat between users, the ability to post photos and status updates and a location function that lets the users know where their friends all are in the world at any given time. Would like the option of having users receive chats to their website or their phones. 3. A separate discussion forum that can be filled in by users where they can post news/updates and start discussions. Also want the ability for users to write a resume by filling in a simple form, which would automatically generate a CV. Want this to be easily updatable so that users can always have the most recent version of their CV online ready to send out. We want the ability to automatically send out emails every month to an email distribution list that we can easily update on the backend. 4. A basic marketplace where users can post things for sale and jobs wanted/available. 5. Another discussion type page where users can post experiences/recommendations by city. Basically a discussion board that can be separated into various cities. Would like to add in a calendar section per city that can be update with city events. 6. RSS and online radio station feeds that the user can choose from such as news feeds like the BBC/NPR etc as well as company-specific news feeds. Would like this to be an easily customizable list that can be changed any time. The basic design will be from the premium template on this site ([url removed, login to view]) and built on a Wordpress base which, ideally will have a fairly easy to use back end.
We would the user experience to be similar to the following:
Step One: Similar to the experience on [url removed, login to view] the new user would click onto our new site and be able to choose from several fairly generic avatars. They will be broken into six main categories based on the type of employment in our particular industry. For now the avatars need only show these basic classifications, later we will want to add additional customizability.
Step Two: After choosing an avatar, just like [url removed, login to view] the user will be directed to the same clean interface to register for a free account. Based on which avatar they have chosen, some of the fields will auto complete and they will be directed to a semi-customized profile (i.e., the student will have a slightly different home page from the trainer and so on.)
Step Three: After they check into the site they can set up their new account. We want to make it as simple and fun as possible for them to upload a photo, answer some basic questions (any of which they should have the option to skip), some preferences (ie which apps they would like to appear on their dashboard), and to import their email into our email processor. This is a pro-version option but will be offered for free for 30 days after which their email address will go away unless they choose to upgrade to the paid version.
The pro version will require a subscription based back in admin account linked to our merchant account.
