Our hostel, Río Elemento, is located in Minca, a small village of 700 residents, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. An isolated mountain range boasting Colombias highest peak and the highest coastal mountain anywhere on planet earth! The local Tayrona Indians believe that between the twin peaks of Pico Colón & Pico Bolívar was the birthplace of Pacha mama (mother nature) and the centre of the universe.
Isolated on all sides, the mountains contain more endemic species of plants, flora, fauna, reptiles, frogs, mammals & just about everything else than anywhere else on the planet making it a nature lovers paradise.
Río Elemento Hostel itself is a large white villa next to Minca's main river, a little downstream from the famous 'Pozo Azul' waterfalls. It's a 3 minute walk to the centre of town where most restaurants, coffee shops, bars and transport offices are located.
Perched at the top of 2 hectares of tropical gardens the Villa boasts a 28m swimming pool, yoga deck, bar, restaurant, giant hammocks, WiFi, DirecTV and Netflix lounge, poolside sunbathing, hot showers, en-suite dorms, Sunday BBQ, mountain, biking, table tennis and Spanish and English speaking staff.
