Multisite glitches

I have a WP Multisite that I'm working on at the moment... and it's driving me crazy!!
At the moment I'm trying to add to the widget areas and there are a couple of issues in Appearance > Widgets:
1. The widget areas wont drop down when I click the arrow
2. Drag & drop isn't working - it simply highlights the area when I try
I've tried changing the theme, deactivating all site plugins, deactivating all network plugins, changed plugins folder name, changed mu plugins folder name - nothing has worked.
I need this fixed straight away.
This should be a very simple fix for the right person.
As I run a couple of multisites and am currently looking for someone available on a on-going basis and also available during Australian work hours - if you can help me with this, we can talk about ongoing work if you're interested ... up to you - just wanted to mention it :-)
Please make sure you address my issue in your reply - I don't want to see a cut & paste reply that has little or nothing to do with this project.
