I have been honing my writing skills since my days at university. Whilst studying Political Science and Creative Writing, I discovered my voracious appetite for political discourse. Whilst many of the more traditionally minded students treated me with disdain, I had a great time writing political articles for several publications.
After graduating, I was fortunate enough to be able to continue my writing career at IBM. I was employed as a Technical Writer. It was my responsibility to try and inject some life into the dreary process documents that chronicle the instructions for many of the internal processes. However, I was also given the opportunity to report on up and coming technology advancements including supercomputers, AI and machine learning. During my time here, I was also able to learn coding (JavaScript and Python) as well as cloud computing.
After a few years in this post, I decided to do what any slightly disillusioned mid-twenty-year-old does. Namely, running away and go traveling. I ended up in the town of Banff for the next two years where I worked as a ski instructor and freelance writer. I wrote for a few Socialist magazines, travel blogs and food publications. I can honestly say that these were the best years of my life.
Recently, I found that I am soon to be a father. The news prompted me and my Australian partner to settle down on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Here I work as a technology writer for a few firms, a part-time IT recruiter and have been lucky enough to continue my freelance writing career.
I would love to write for your publication! I consider my most proficient skills to be in writing within the technology, travel, politics, history and fatherhood topics.
Thanks!
