Status of Water Quality in Various Fish and Shrimp Farms of Sindh Province, Pakistan

Sarhad Journal of Agriculture
This research aims to study the water quality of 10 fish farms located in different regions of Sindh. Result showed that water quality parameters of all fish farms were suitable for farming purpose excluding Shamimul Hassan Farm, Fish Farm Green Co. and Ghulam Ali Nizamani Farm, where high level of total hardness was recorded as 1000±2.65 mg l-1, 700±4.80 mgl-1, and 975±4.73 mg l-1, respectively.

Evaluation of Planktons in seawater ponds, Pakistan.

Aquaculture research
This study ( Sindh province, Pakistan) was used to investigate the suitability of seawater earthen ponds for mariculture activity. Ponds were stocked with fish species for polyculture setup, fed pelleted diet to check the water productivity (Planktons abundance).

Optimum salinity level for commercial species in Pakistan

UVAS (UNIVERSITY OF VETRINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES) proceeding
In this study we used commercially important species of Pakistan under controlled environment such as Red tilapia, Nile tilapia, Common carp, Seabream and Milk fish. Resulting, in terms of growth. SGR, feed conversion ratio and survival of these fishes; the optimum salinity level (15-30, 10-20, 5-15, 20-30 and 25-30), respectively. Red tilapia, seabream and milkfish can be cultured in 30 ppt salinity while Nile tilapia and common carp can be 20ppt and 15ppt in cultured environment.

Salinity tolerance of some commercially important species

Zoological society of Pakistan (Proceeding)
In this study we used commercially important species of Pakistan for the salinity tolerance experiment under controlled environment such as Red tilapia, Nile tilapia, Common carp, Seabream and Milk fish. Resulting, in terms of growth. SGR, feed conversion ratio and survival of these fishes in captivity; the suitable salinity range 15-30, 10-20, 5-15, 20-30 and 25-30, respectively.

Effect of Live and Formulated Diets on Growth, FCR and Meat Quality of Chanos chanos in captivity.

SINDH UNIVERSITY RESEARCH JOURNAL (SCIENCE SERIES)
Juvenile milkfish, Chanos chanos were use into three treatment groups (10 fish each) and were fed with Artemia, floating and sinking feeds with two replications. Growth parameters and water quality were determined. Resulting, Chanos chanos showed significantly higher growth on live (Artemia) and floating feed. Since, floating feed over the live feed is cost effective and cheaper source of protein, thus, floating feed can be suggested for raising milkfish under the culture conditions.

Effect of Pelleted feeds on Growth and survival of Post Fry Sea Bream, Acanthopagrusberda

SINDHUNIVERSITYRESEARCHJOURNAL(SCIENCE SERIES)
The nutritional efficacy of sea-bream seed Acanthopagrus berda, was observed intensively cultivated for 5 weeks. Juveniles were kept in well aerated 60-L-1 glass water treatment tanks (10-1) with their two replicates and fed on different commercial diets i.e. T1-floating feed and T2-sinking feed. Resulting, 40% protein comprising floating feed is best for obtaining optimum growth in post fry black-fin seabream, Acanthopagrus berda in captivity.

Optimized spawning induction of blackfin sea bream, Acanthopagrus berda by using Ovaprim Hormone

Aquaculture (ELSEVIER)
Two consecutive experiments were performed to examine the potential use of Ovaprim hormone for spawning induction of blackfin sea bream, Acanthopagrus berda. Resulting, the procedure of two successive injections of 0.25 ml kg−1 of Ovaprim for females allows to maximize the effects of breeding induction of blackfin sea bream in seawater ponds. Also found considerably higher number of eggs, fertilization and hatching rates. Embryonic and larval development was also observed and described.

Comparative Study to Investigate the Impact of Salinity on breeding of Tilapia

SINDHUNIVERSITYRESEARCH JOURNAL (SCIENCE SERIES)
Present study was conducted to get mass seed production of tilapia species, tilapia-Red (Oreochromis niloticus × O. mossambicus) and tilapia-Nilotica (O. niloticus) on different salinity (0‰ to 30‰ with 5% increment) in captivity. Out-comes of current findings advise that tilapia-Red breed effectively up to 20‰ salinity with 70% survival rate of fry and Nile tilapia, O. niloticus can breed successfully up to 15‰ salinity with 90% survival of fry under captive environment.

Status of Cartilaginous Fishes in Pakistan

SINDH UNIVERSITY RESEARCH JOURNAL (SCIENCE SERIES)
In this study, recorded various sharks at the two fish landing sites in Karachi, ranging from (29-188cm), rays (DL: 21-104cm and DW: 26-230), guitarfishes (51-116cm) and torpedo (17-34cm) in which large size species are Carcharhinussorrah, Alopiaspelagicus, Mobulaeregoodootenkee, Mobulatarapacana and small size Narcine spp (17-20cm). Elasmobranchs are caught for global demand, money, delicacy and status symbol but their products would highly beneficial for medicinal and cosmetic industries.

Preliminary Observations on Elasmobranchs Captured in Pakistan

Journal of Aquaculture & Marine Biology (MedCrave)
This article described initial observation between 2015-2016 at two landing centers, Karachi Harbour and Ibrahim Hyderi regarding Elasmobranchs/ Cartilaginous fish species found in Pakistan. Small specimens transported to the laboratory, whereas, larger specimens (100cm TL) were identified and measured at the Harbour. Resulting, family Carcharhinidae and Rhinobatidae found in substantial amounts during winter, while, family Dasyatidae was in sufficient amount during summer.
