I was approached by William Adoasi, CEO and Head Designer of Vitae London, a premium watch brand, to consult on the technical aspects of a new watch design which later became the companies Elmington range, a range of watches with interchange bezels and straps. William's concept was for users to easily match their watch to their outfits. To achieve this, the user would need to be able to easily change the front bezel and straps. William and I met to brainstorm possible methods to achieve this goal, utilizing a user centred design thinking approach, we settled on the idea for the watch face to be threaded. This allowed the bezel to be simply unscrewed and replaced with another bezel of the users choice, the design also incorporated toolless quick change straps.
