Comparative study of linear controllers for binary distillation column

In this project five control techniques were implemented and compared on linear model of distillation column. Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR), Linear Quadratic Gaussian Regulator (LQG), Decoupling based Proportional Integral Derivative controller (PID), H-infinity (H-∞) based controller, H-2 based controller were used. Due to coupling in dynamics decoupling based controller outperformed all other controllers. All simulations were done in Matlab.

Genetic algorithm based optimal back stepping controller design for stabilizing inverted pendulum

In this project a nonlinear back steeping based controller was designed using Lyapunov function theory. The parameters of controller were optimized using Genetic Algorithm. Integral time absolute error (ITAE) was used as fitness function.

Robust and optimal controller design for quadrotor using genetic algorithm

In this project a sliding mode controller was designed for Quadrotor. In order to achieve both robustness and optimality, a nonlinear, second order sliding mode controller was designed. The whole problem was converted into multi-objective optimization problem, which minimizes controller effort and maximizes output. The problem is solved using Genetic Algorithm. The controller designed was very robust due to its variable structure.
