I chose to go to Riga, Latvia for a non-profit project. I came back in 2001 to be the point person for my parents, who at that time were 89 and 91 years old. I brought with me a wonderful souvenir, my Latvian artist husband. After going to Latvia, caring for my parents, and helping my husband to start an art business, my resume didnt have a hole in it, it had a crater. That made me a freelancer and it has been a great experience!
