I have extensive experience in two primary fields, healthcare and business management. Healthcare I am nationally recognized healthcare financial expert with over 25 years of healthcare experience. I began my career as emergency room nurse before transitioning to the financial and compliance areas of healthcare. With this unique combination of clinical, operational and financial expertise I have worked with hundreds of healthcare providers across the nation. My clients include some of the largest for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare providers as well as smaller stand alone hospitals and physician practices. Drawing upon my hands-on experiences I have authored publications and spoke on a myriad of healthcare topics including recently; Emergency Room Charging and Operations, Hospital Acquired Conditions & Present on Admission, Never Events, Healthcare Transparency, RAC Response Models, ICD-10, OR Charge Structure, Budgeting and Infusion/Injection Coding, Clinical Documentation, Collections and Hospital Pricing to name a few. I hold a B.S. degree in Business as well as Master of Business Administration with a focus in healthcare finance. I completed the advanced course work for a Doctorate of Philosophy with a specialization in Healthcare Finance at Virginia Commonwealth University. I have been awarded a Juris Doctorate with a focus on Healthcare Law. Business Management I founded my first Healthcare Company in 1991 and since that time I founded or co-founded nine companies, primarily in healthcare and hospitality. I have provided business and financial advice to a wide variety of start up companies in a wide range of fields including telecom, retail, ranching and hospitality. I am a counselor for the Colorado Small Business Development Center.
