I have personally been utilizing Linux as my primary OS since 1998. I have had experience with many flavors of Linux, including: Mandrake, Red Hat, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, Slackware, Coyote, and Gentoo, the latter of which is my current preference. In addition, I have used and maintained Solaris in a production environment on both UltraSparc and x86 hardware.
My professional experience includes extensive design, setup, and maintenance of all aspects of a website hosting and Internet Service Provider (ISP) operation. Being a current administrator for [login to view URL], I have a working knowledge of current software, configuration, and deployment in a production environment. I also have experience in designing an ISP from the ground up, specifically based on the DSL networking topology. Among the software I have and continue to use are: Apache2, Frontpage (RTR for UNIX), MySQL, PostgreSQL, Bind, MyDNS, rsync, OpenSSH, Postfix, Courier, Cyrus-SASL, LVM2, User-Mode-Linux (UML), V-Server (VPS), OpenVZ, Mailman, Amavisd, SpamAssassin, Horde, Squirlmail, and AWstats. Additionally, I have written many custom scripts (ie. shell, PHP, etc.) to manage dedicated server automation, including entire Customer Account Management Systems (CAMS).
I have also done many and varied custom projects based off of Open-Source software. An example includes deployment of web proxy/filtering servers for public libraries to comply with the Child Protection Act and other State/Federal regulations utilizing DansGuardian and Squid. We also have service agreements with several local organizations.
