As the Accountant for Maggies Catering my first task was to transition the company from paper based accounting to a digital accounting system. Maggies' is the largest catering firm in Guyana and has a diverse set of businesses. My job as the accountant was to map their business segments and workflow to a digital accounting system that is easy to use, flexible and accurate. This included a back office system, a Point of Sale system that sends sales data to the Back Office, and a kitchen order system created from scratch. The kitchen order system was created in Microsoft Access for the catering segment of the business. This part of the system receives orders, breaks each order down into smaller assignments for each chef, arranges the broken down orders by time on a kitchen display, and assigns deliveries to drivers.
