Illinois World War II Veterans Memorial Contest, 1st Place
http://wwii.ltc.k12.il.us/Portal/DesktopModules/UltraVideoGallery/uvg.swf?vId=310&portalId=1 This is fairly old now, and going back and listening now that I have more experience and better equipment I'm almost embarrassed to admit this was my work. Someone somewhere apparently thought this was good, however, since it tied for best in state. In my Junior year of high school the Advanced Placement US History teacher forced his students to participate in this contest under threat of class failure. While my randomly-assigned workmates had as much enthusiasm as can be expected from academic hostages, I set out to do this with as much respect as possible. The video work is, while originally done by myself, largely sabotaged by the editorial brilliance of one 17-year-old football jock. However, the narration audio is entirely done by me - my voice, my script, my editing work. Not bad, I guess, for a kid with an aged condenser microphone and an 8-year-old sound-editor program.
About Me
I'm an English student, but my upbringing has given me access to many different vocations. I definitely do, however, consider writing to be my prime field. I am honestly sick of being told I have a 'good voice' - be it for radio, acting, podcasts, or something else more contrived. I'm definitely no singer, but if there's one thing I'm confident of it's my ability to speak; when I read from a prompt I simply need to read it with actual emotion... demonstrate I actually care about what I'm reading, or the person I'm talking to.
