King Lear Paper for Shakespeare: Mature Plays Class
This is a term paper I wrote for Shakespeare: Mature Plays on King Lear. In it, I analyze the differences between the first Quarto and First Folio versions of King Lear from a textual perspective and what they would imply about its author - namely, if both versions were written by Shakespeare or not. I conclude that Shakespeare must have written both works, which goes against Steven Urkowitz's suggestion that these versions of the play may have been written by different authors. It received an A+ and a suggestion for emendation and submission into a yearly Shakespeare Literature contest. I declined due to time constraints, but I am going to write an expanded version of this paper for my senior project.
About Me
I have tutored at the University of Akron for their Basic Writing class in Developmental Programs for two years and worked at Roderick Linton Belfance LLP as an intern for the Summer of 2012. Currently, I'm a senior English Major at the University of Akron Honors College with a 3.75GPA, working on an Anthropology minor and - if the classes allow - a Professional Writing minor. I've taken - and earned A's in - Business Writing and Intercultural Communication. As far as expertise is concerned, Music is and always will be a subject that I excel in. I understand Music Theory at a proficient level and can play the piano, trombone, guitar, bass, euphonium, and tuba. I also have an avid interest in video games and tabletop games. Overall, I'd say that my style aims to be as concise and precise as possible, and I'm always open to constructive criticism in order to improve. I hope you find that to be the case!
