I'm in need of a skilled electronics engineer with experience in power management circuits.
Your task is to optimise a battery protection sub-circuit that is already working but uses too much power.
The circuit is used to protect a lipo battery from overvoltage, if the charging voltage goes above 4.2V then the battery should be disconnected until the voltage drops below 4.2V.
The existing circuit operates by using a comparator to compare a reference voltage to the battery voltage and using a PMOS switch to disconnect if required.
There are a number of key criteria that must be achieved and are non-negotiable.
- The passive current of the total circuit should be as small as possible <50uA, currently over 1mA
- The design needs to be triplicated (see schematic)
- The three circuits must be completely independent of each other, not share components
- The components must be rated for 12V and over, otherwise they can't be used
- The design must specify all components required and their Digikey part numbers
You can modify the existing circuit or produce a new circuit using discrete components or provide off the shelf solutions. All options considered if they meet all criteria above.
