Attracting users to new app for musicians

Our team developed an app that allows musicians to promote their music and extend they fan base. The app is free and we believe that this service should be of huge interest to aspiring musicians. The weak side is that we are developers, not marketers and are not sure how it would be best to deliver the news to our target audience.
That's why we seek people who can help us with app promotion and attracting musicians to try and use the app. We are not interested in paid contextual advertising as we'd rather spend budget on referral and bonuses to musicians.
The app mainly targets English speaking audience, although musicians from other countries are more than welcome. We are ready to pay 5$ for each new user plus musician gets 5$ in bonus himself. We have an active referral program within app, so you can just register, get your referral code and promote it for others to sign up.
Bonuses to be paid only after user reaches second level in the app to avoid fraudulent registrations. Payments can be done in Paypal, Amazon gift card, BTC.
