Reset or Recover PhpMyAdmin password

We have recently brough one of our Servers offline from one of the local data centers, we are retiring this server and since we have taken the server offline and got it up and running on our local network, we can no longer access PHPMyAdmin
The server was working fine until it was taken offline. It is running FREEBSD, MySql and PHP4
We have been trying to access the DB via PHPMyAdmin with our old password and user name with no success.
We assigned a new IP to the box and routed it through our router and can now access the box from anywhere on the net. However we still can not gain access to PHPMyAdmin
We have had to make database copies using mysqldump from the command line, however we would like to access PHPMyAdmin for other operations.
We need the access restriction removed.
