This system will have similar functionality to price grabber, but will not be as large as price grabber (it will probably only search through about 30 websites), and the products will not be categorised like [Trademark masked] - I am only focusing on one particular area of products.
It will essentially need to data mine/extract the price of a number of products on about 30 different products and save it into a database.
There will be a series of database tables behind the script. These will be:
1. A table of websites, which are the websites the script will search over.
2. A table of products, which will be the products that the script will search those websites for and store the price of.
3. A table which has the latest price of each product on each website.
4. A table with the previous price of the products. Essentially when the price is updated, the new price will be placed into the "latest price" table mentioned in point 3, and the old price will be placed into this previous price table.
5. A table with categories, grouping the products together.
The websites would be searched once or twice per day, and it would be prefered if this searching script was written in PHP, though if you have something already written in another language that may be possible as well. I would need to have a copy of the source code so that I can edit it if ever required.
All that I need written is the script that will search through the websites based off the table, finding products in an additional table and saving the results of its search into a third table. I do not need code written to display these results, or any designing/interfacing - but if you must write these in the development of the product, or you have them already written from a previous product, then I am happy to consider them - please let me know if this is the case.
The winner of this project will need to work with me ensuring that the product supplied is reliable and accurate in determining prices and be willing to overcome any problems that the script may run into. Judging by the prices quoted for similar products, this product shouldn't cost too much to produce.
