We have a couple of websites that are in need of a little design work and a fair bit of SEO.
The first site needs to be changed to be mobile friendly. I've found a Wordpress theme and uploaded it onto a development site. It looks 'OK' on mobile but could do with some design work for desktop.
I've chosen Wordpress because it's meant to be good for SEO. Also, the forms on both sites are pretty complex in terms of the logic and it's all hard coded in. If there are changes in our industry, I have to get a developer to update the forms. I've purchased the Ninja Forms plugin with the conditional logic addon and it should do what I need it to so I'm fairly keen on sticking with Wordpress.
The SEO needs a fair bit of attention on this one. In the first instance, I'm a bit nervous of uploading a new site and reducing what natural traffic we have coming in. I at least need it to be the same. The SEO is a very long and sorry tale involving several agencies and directly employed staff. We used to rank on page 1 for all our key terms, then we got stung by Panda/Penguin. We didn't get a notification, just suffered huge drops in rank.
I've had a couple of people look at it since but with limited success. I even disavowed some links myself earlier this year but it didn't make any difference. We now only have a couple of page 1 terms. We're at or near the top of page 2 for some and no-where for others that used to rank well. I should be able to dig out some historic info on where we used to be.
The second site is a slightly different story. It was converted to be mobile friendly a couple of years ago when our ex in-house developer built a CMS for it. I'd like to convert it to Wordpress using the same or a very similar theme to the first site and for the same reasons as above i.e. the SEO and the form.
We've done virtually nothing to this site in terms of SEO but it has somehow (until recently) always ranked highly for two main terms and their variants. They were around P3 up until a few weeks ago but then slipped to P5 and P9 respectively. I've just checked and the former term is now P7 (after I added a new page??) so I could do with sorting it out a.s.a.p.
As I said though, we've done very little (if any) SEO work on this site so maybe it won't take much to get it back up a few places? I suspect the first site will need quite a lot more work.
Seeing as the SEO is the main task, I'd be interested in seeing some case studies. Examples of sites you have helped to rank and the keywords would be useful.
