Tentative enquiry: web based email to fax

This is an "is it possible" project.

I have been investigating available options to allow email to fax, via my web sites and/or as a stand alone application.

Is it possible to run a Linux based applicaiton which will permit email to fax (using for example telehpone_number at [url removed, login to view]) to be sent as a fax to anywhere in the world (or same country only as appropriate).

I know there are services available on subscription etc, a few free ad based one, but I want to know if it is possible WITHOUT a fax server or dedicted telephone line.

Fax-over-IP I guess it would be? Anyone who has any experience in this field please contact me via PMB
