Rails (RoR) Peer-to-Peer sharing / commerce site

Hi there,

I need help building a web application powered by Ruby on Rails. I am looking for someone who has a solid foundation in RoR, along with expertise with front-end coding and design (no graphic design needed - just front-end capabilities like CSS, Javascript / Jquery etc.). The work will involve both wiring the application on the back-end, and making it look good on the front.

I am a novice developer myself and I need some added expertise to build out certain functions of the site. A similar site to this already exists, so we have a very clear model to work from in terms of the functionality we need. The core skills I am looking for include:

1) Accept payments - We need to integrate this rails app with Braintree payments - if you have a better suggestion for the source of payment integration, I am open to alternatives, but we want it to be seamless and professional looking

2) Search app content - The app will require a robust search capability to look through the various user profiles and identify users who match the search criteria

3) Front end coding / design - see notes above re: CSS / Jquery / Javascript

4) General code review - As mentioned, I've built some of this already, but would appreciate a second (more experienced) set of eyes on the code

5) Help deploying and scaling - I would look for help and support in making sure it deploys and scales appropriately

So in summary:

Skills - RoR and front-end programming

Compensation - I am open to different agreements on compensation, whether you prefer fixed fee or by the hour

Development model - I think focusing on staged milestones for work is the best way to engage to build trust on both sides. I will provide detailed requirements upfront, and I will be available to review code and functionality at any time during your development work. Let's set up an initial development target and timeline, then reassess after that first milestone whether we're making enough progress

Timing - I want to move quickly on this project. I want to start immediately and hope to have an application ready for end-to-end testing by the end of November. After thorough testing I would like to have the application in production for January 2012.

Duration - I expect to need your expertise and support for at least 1 month, with the possibility of expanding the relationship further if things go well.
