  Note:
  I was planning to remove the separation wall at the back of the garage (eliminate the storage area) so that we can have access to the back yard through the garage without having to go through the house.
  
  Also I am trying to have the 1/2 bath location farther away from the kitchen and dining area if possible.
  
  In your design suggestions you can also propose a different location and style for the staircase if needed.
